Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

1. Overview

AgileStash ("we", "our", or "the Service") is a free, real-time collaboration tool for agile teams. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we do not do with it.

2. No Accounts Required

AgileStash does not require you to create an account. You are identified within a session by an anonymous session ID generated locally in your browser and stored in localStorage. This ID is not linked to your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily enter a display name when joining a room.

3. Data We Collect

When you use AgileStash, the following data is processed:

  • Your chosen display name within a room session
  • Votes, cards, retro notes, and other content you submit within a room
  • Basic technical data such as IP address and browser information, used solely for operating the service

Room data (votes, notes, items) is stored only for the duration of the room session. Once a room is closed or becomes inactive, its content is permanently deleted from our servers.

4. Chrome Extension and Jira Integration

The optional AgileStash Chrome Extension integrates with Atlassian Jira to allow you to share ticket details (such as ticket ID, title, and description) directly into a planning session.

When you use this feature, the extension reads ticket data from the Jira page currently open in your browser. This data is transmitted directly to your active AgileStash room session for use by the participants in that session.

Jira data is held only temporarily for the duration of your room session. It is never stored permanently, never shared with any third party, and never used for any purpose other than displaying it within your planning session.

The extension does not collect browsing history, does not access any Jira data beyond the currently open ticket, and does not transmit any data to external services. The full source code of the extension is available for inspection when you install it via your browser's extension management page.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use AgileStash - for example, which tools are most used and how users navigate the site. Google Analytics collects anonymized data such as pages visited, session duration, browser type, and general location (country/city level). It does not collect your display name, room content, or Jira data.

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish users and sessions. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Error Monitoring

We use Sentry (sentry.io) to collect anonymized error reports when something goes wrong in the application. Sentry may collect technical information such as browser type, operating system, and stack traces. It does not collect your display name, room content, or Jira data. Sentry's privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy. sentry.io/privacy.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use localStorage in your browser to persist your session ID and display name between visits. This data never leaves your device except as part of normal room participation.

Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site usage as described in section 5. We do not use advertising cookies or cookies for any other purpose.

8. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose. The third-party services we use are Google Analytics for usage analytics and Sentry for error monitoring, as described above.

9. Data Retention

Active room data is retained for as long as the room is in use. Unclaimed rooms are deleted automatically when all participants disconnect. Claimed rooms are retained until explicitly closed. Aggregated, anonymized room statistics (tool type, peak player count, timestamps) may be retained indefinitely for internal analytics.

10. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personally identifiable information and do not maintain user accounts, there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions or concerns about data related to a specific session, please contact us at the address below.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

12. Contact
